Summary: | Scandium diphthalocyanine (ScPc
2) thin films were deposited by vacuum sublimation at a pressure of
ca. 10
−6 Torr onto substrates either at room temperature or heated above 370K. Amorphous and polycrystalline films were obtained and characterized by visible and IR absorption spectroscopies, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Conductivity measurements showed that the film conductivity is three orders of magnitude higher for the polycrystalline films than for the amorphous films. Secondary ion mass spectroscopy yields a bulk oxygen concentration of around one atom for three ScPc
2 molecules while X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Auger electron spectroscopy yield a surface concentration approximately ten times higher. |
