Summary:An on-chip terahertz measurement has been performed to investigate photon generation due to electrons injected by quantum Hall edge channels. In this device configuration, terahertz waves emitted from a quantum Hall effect device are transmitted to a quantum-dot single photon detector (fabricated on the same chip) via a coplanar waveguide. Photon generation is found on the confluence of unequally populated edge channels when the source–drain voltage reaches a level of Landau-level energy spacing.
