Summary:Synchrotron radiation photoemission spectroscopy in the photon energy range hv=22–130 eV has been used to investigate the valence band structure of the intermetallic compounds of UNiSn, URhSb and UPtSn. The technique of resonant photoemission has been applied to locate the U5f states. In all compounds the 5f states are close to the Fermi energy with a width ranging from ≈1.1 eV for UNiSn to ≈1.6 eV for UPtSn. In the compounds the maximum of the d-like valence band density of states has been shifted from E F towards higher binding energies.
