Summary: | Recent work from our own lab on electrochromic thin-film metallopolymers is surveyed and summarized. The survey includes discussion of (1) new electrochemical synthetic methods based on reductive halide loss or oxidative activation for nucleophilic attack, (2) spatially selective, multicomponent film formation based on semiconductor bandgap illumination, followed by electropolymerization, (3) spatially selective film formation based on solution-phase (monomer) photoredox chemistry, and (4) reversible electrochromic image recording, based on a combination of semiconductor electrode illumination and polymer-phase metal-metal bond chemistry. |
