Determination of the streaming potential in ion-exchange membranes

The streaming potential in ion-exchange membranes has been experimentally studied. Results obtained with two sulfonic membranes with a different degree of swelling and equilibrated in HCl, NaCl and KCl solutions with concentrations ranging from 10 −3 M to 1 M are given. Concentration polarisation pr...

Summary:The streaming potential in ion-exchange membranes has been experimentally studied. Results obtained with two sulfonic membranes with a different degree of swelling and equilibrated in HCl, NaCl and KCl solutions with concentrations ranging from 10 −3 M to 1 M are given. Concentration polarisation problems are solved by extrapolation of the experimental data to zero diffusion time.
