Summary:The effect of non-contact electric fields applied directly during combustion synthesis of barium ferrites is presented. The microstructure, phase composition and magnetic characteristics of the combustion products were obtained by scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM). A correlation was found between the observed magnetic properties of the product and the magnitude of the applied electric field. The role of oxygen exchange activated by the electric field during the combustion synthesis is discussed.
