Photocatalytic activity of Ag/TiO2 composite synthesized using aqueous plant extract from Mirabilis jalapa for degradation of rhodamine B under visible light

In this study, Ag/TiO2 were synthesized by green synthesis approach route using aqueous plant extract from Mirabilis jalapa. Ag/TiO2 were characterized by FTIR, UV-Vis, SEM and XRD. Analysis by UV-Vis showed an SPR band at 461 nm and there was confirmed AgNPs were formed. XRD analysis exhibited char...

Summary:In this study, Ag/TiO2 were synthesized by green synthesis approach route using aqueous plant extract from Mirabilis jalapa. Ag/TiO2 were characterized by FTIR, UV-Vis, SEM and XRD. Analysis by UV-Vis showed an SPR band at 461 nm and there was confirmed AgNPs were formed. XRD analysis exhibited characteristic pattern of anatase phase of TiO2 and present of silver. SEM images indicated a cuboid shape and irregular shape for Ag and TiO2, respectively. The photocatalytic activity of Ag/TiO2 was investigated through degradation of rhodamine B under visible light illumination with different amount of silver which labelled as PT (pure TiO2), Ag1T, Ag2T, Ag3T, and Ag4T. The results is Ag2T had the most catalytic activity than other catalyst with 240 minutes of reaction time.
