Summary: | ABSTRACT
This work presents a new simple low‐profile and compact planar inverted‐E antenna (PIEA) which is a modified form of planar inverted‐F antenna having two shorting plates instead of one. A slot is inserted on the ground plane to further enhance the impedance bandwidth of this antenna. This PIEA covers the frequency band from around 1700 MHz to more than 2700 MHz in a single band which covers most of the frequency bands used in 2G, 3G, and 4G applications. The height of this antenna is h = 5 mm which makes it suitable for handheld applications. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 56:2103–2107, 2014 |
