Summary:Four new eremophilane‐type sesquiterpenes, 3β‐(acetyloxy)‐6β‐(2‐methylbutanoyloxy)‐10β‐hydroxyeremophil‐7(11)‐en‐12,8α‐olide (1), 3β‐(acetyloxy)‐6α,7α‐epoxy‐11‐noreremophil‐9(10)‐ene‐8,11‐dione (2), 3β‐hydroxy‐11‐noreremophila‐6(7),9(10)‐diene‐8,11‐dione (3), and 3β‐(3‐methylbutanoyloxy)‐11‐noroxoeremophila‐6(7),9(10)‐diene‐8,11‐dione (4) were isolated from roots of Ligularia japonica. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated through spectral studies including HR‐EI‐MS, IR, and NMR data.
