Abstract The preparation of palladium nanoparticles stabilized primarily within the protein cavity of a highly thermostable Dps protein (DNA binding protein from starved cells) and the use of this precatalyst system in Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions under aerobic conditions in water is described, as well as a two-step one-pot Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling followed by an enantioselective enzyme-catalyzed reduction to form chiral biaryl alcohols.
