Fiber-optic temperature sensor using evanescent fields in D fibers

A fiber-optic temperature sensor using evanescent fields in D fibers is presented. It works on the basis of optical attenuation brought about by coating the flat surface of the fiber with an external medium with a large thermooptic coefficient.
