Summary:A process of bionic design for composites, and an interfacial model of composites from this bionic design, are proposed. A lot of biomaterials in nature have been observed and analysed and some phenomena of the interface investigated. It is the effective combination of different constituents at the interface of biomaterials in nature that results in the advanced properties of the body. To design the interface of modern materials lessons should be learned from nature. The interface design of carbon fibre-reinforced aluminium is taken as an example. 8 refs.
