Evaluation of Sempervivum tectorum L. Flavonoids by LC and LC–MS

Flavonoid profile of houseleek has been revealed and the content of its phenolic compounds has been determined. Polar extracts (80% ( v/v ) methanol) of lyophylized Sempervivum leaves have been studied. LC separation of fractions was performed on a Supelcosil LC18 (250 × 4.6 mm; 5 μm) column. For li...

Summary:Flavonoid profile of houseleek has been revealed and the content of its phenolic compounds has been determined. Polar extracts (80% ( v/v ) methanol) of lyophylized Sempervivum leaves have been studied. LC separation of fractions was performed on a Supelcosil LC18 (250 × 4.6 mm; 5 μm) column. For linear gradient elution the following solvent mixture was applied: methanol −2.5% ( v/v ) acetic acid. The presence of numerous flavonoid compounds was detected by their retention times and UV spectra. Flavonoid compounds were evaluated with LC–ESI–MS–MS, in the negative ion mode, kaempferol was detected as main flavonoid aglycone, occuring solely in glycosidic form.
