The ESR method to determine nitric oxide in plants

Summary: | Nitric oxide (NO) plays an important role not only in animal system but also in plant system. We developed a method to detect NO free radical in plant system using electron spin resonance (ERS) spin trapping technique. The adduct (DETC)2-Fe2+-NO in plant can be extracted by organic solvent and then measured on an ESR spectrometer at room temperature (indirect method) or can be measured in live plant on an ESR spectrometer, but the water in the plant has to be partially dehydrated (direct method). |
