Detection of stimulated Raman scattering in the LiYbF4 crystal

Stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) has been observed for the first time in a tetragonal LiYbF 4 crystal. The recorded Stokes and anti-Stokes components of χ (3) nonlinear lasing are attributed to the two SRS-active phonon modes with ω SRS1 ~ 325 cm –1 and ω SRS2 ~ 432 cm –1 of this crystal.
