Summary:New coordination compounds of germanium and 3 d metals with xylaric acid (H 5 Xylar) and 2,2′-bipyridine (bipy), which contain tetranuclear xylaratogermanate anion [Fe(bipy) 3 ] 2 [(OH) 2 Ge 2 (μ-HXylar) 4 Ge 2 (μ- OH) 2 ]·12Н 2 О·2CH 3 CN ( I ) and [Ni(bipy) 3 ] 2 [(OH) 2 Ge 2 (μ-HXylar) 4 Ge 2 (μ-OH) 2 ]·20Н 2 О·2C 2 H 5 OH ( II ) are synthesized. The complexes are studied by the elemental analysis, thermogravimetry, IR spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. To visualize and quantitatively assess hydrogen bonds in I and II the Hiershfeld surface analysis is used.
