MAGNETOACOUSTIC WAVES IN PARTIALLY IONIZED HEAT-RELEASING PLASMA: COMPARISON OF ONE-FLUID AND TWO-FLUID MODELS

Velocities and increments (decrements) of magnetoacoustic waves are calculated using one-fluid and two-fluid models taking into account actual conditions of photodissociative regions of interstellar partially ionized medium. The admissibility of the application of the one-fluid model in the long-wav...

Summary:Velocities and increments (decrements) of magnetoacoustic waves are calculated using one-fluid and two-fluid models taking into account actual conditions of photodissociative regions of interstellar partially ionized medium. The admissibility of the application of the one-fluid model in the long-wavelength limit (for wave frequencies lower than the neutral—ion collision frequency) is shown. In the short-wavelength range, the two-fluid model predicts the appearance of two magnetoacoustic waves caused by disturbances of only the ion component of medium.
