Summary:Experimental and theoretical studies of the XPS complex U5p electronic structure of compounds containing U 4+ (5f 2 ) and U 6+ (5f 0 ) ions were carried out. A general theoretical approach, which includes configuration interaction, was applied to calculate the U5p spectral complex structure. On the basis of the calculation data, contribution to the spectral structure related to the dynamic effect was determined. The theoretical and experimental results were used to obtain the information on the U oxidation states on the basis of the complex structure parameters of U5p electrons spectra.
