Summary:Tetrabasic ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid H 4 L binds two molecules of monobasic amines to give the corresponding salts: ethylenediaminetetraacetates of bis(monoethanolaminium) H 2 L 2– ⋅2 + H 3 NCH 2 CH 2 ОН, tris(hydroxymethyl)methylaminium H 2 L 2– ⋅2 + H 3 NС(CH 2 ОН) 3 ⋅3H 2 О, diethylaminium H 2 L 2– ⋅2 + H 2 N(C 2 H 5 ) 2 ⋅H 2 О, tert -butylaminium H 2 L 2– ⋅2 + H 3 NС(CH 3 ) 3 ⋅5H 2 О, and triethanolaminium H 2 L 2– ⋅2 + HN(CH 2 CH 2 ОH) 3 . Dibasic hexamethylene-1,6-diamine, triethylenediamine, and tetramethylethylenediamine form the following 1 : 1 adducts: H 2 L 2– ⋅ + NH 3 (CH 2 ) 6 NH , H 2 L 2– ⋅ + NH 3 CH 2 CH 2 (OCH 2 CH 2 ) 2 NH , H 2 L 2– ⋅ + HN(CH 2 CH 2 ) 3 NH + ⋅H 2 О, and H 2 L 2– ⋅ + H(CH 3 ) 2 NCH 2 CH 2 N(CH 3 ) 2 H + . The molecular structures of bis(monoethanolaminium) ethylenediaminetetraacetate and bis[tris(hydroxymethyl)methylaminium] ethylenediaminetetraacetate trihydrate were determined.
