Summary:Trimethoxysilyl poly-1,2-butadiene (TMSPBD) is used with considerable frequency in the rubber industry. In this study, the effect of TMSPBD modification of an EPDM matrix is studied in detail and the changes in thermal, mechanical and rheological properties and kinetics of vulcanization are reported. The results show that the mechanical properties and thermal stability are improved. It is also seen that the amount of the TMSPBD is important for the degree of modification to be obtained within the polymeric matrix.
