Summary:This article presents a psychological perspective on the limitations of the approach to planning known as the sign-based world model. Some possibilities of overcoming these limitations are considered in the context of cognitive psychology. Processes within which the sign-based world model is activated are considered: energization in an obstacle situation, insight, top-down processing, attachment (identification). Requirements for modeling goal-setting are set based on two major mechanisms of emergence of new motives and resulting new meanings: motive-to-goal shift and cognitive dissonance.
