Summary:One specimen of Mollusca-Solenogastres belonging to the family Amphimeniidae is described, representing a new species for science. The 9-cm-long animal was collected during the Polarstern Cruise (2007–2008) from off Queen Maud Land (Antarctica) at about 2,100 m depth. Alexandromenia heteroglandulata spec. nov. is characterised, among other features, by two different types of spawning duct glands, as well as by at least four types of glands associated with the foregut. The specimen also possesses a highly unusual configuration of the frontal pericardium; it forms a voluminous sack (filled with eggs) that intrudes into the posterior midgut.
