Pregnancy after jejunoileal shunt

This report describes an unsuccessful pregnancy after a jejunoileal bypass operation that produced a severe secondary malabsorption syndrome with superimposed mechanical and metabolic effects of pregnancy to which the patient nearly succumbed.
