Summary:Post mastectomy reconstruction is nowadays an integral part of breast cancer treatment, usually performed in the immediate setting. Among women with hereditary gastric and breast cancer syndromes, three different scenarios can be identified. First, healthy women seeking for prophylactic mastectomies. Second, cancer patients requiring mastectomy at the tumor site and simultaneous risk reducing mastectomy of the healthy breast. Third, cancer patients who have been treated for primary cancer requiring risk reducing mastectomies in a further stage. In this paper, we present a schematic guide for reconstruction for each subpopulation of subjects and their peculiarities.
