Summary: | A new approach for planning and managing the development of information systems is presented. Called the Matrix Approach, it combines the concept of the System Development Life Cycle with that of the information system Bill of Documents (a concept which is analogous to the Bill of Material). The Matrix Approach views the development of an information system as the transformation of its bill of documents through the phases of the life cycle. The principles of the Matrix Approach and its application to two specific issues in system development are illustrated with examples from
sefer, a framework derived from the Matrix Approach and widely adopted by government agencies, private enterprises and software development contractors in Israel. |
