Summary:Standstill frequency response (SSFR) testing and analysis of salient pole synchronous generators and motors performed by the members of the Working Group are summarized. The papers presented in a panel session at the 1997 Winter Power Meeting are condensed into this paper for the benefit of future researchers. The pertinent features of SSFR testing and analysis of salient pole machines are described to point out the differences from those of round rotor turbogenerators extensively published in the literature.
