Summary: | Transcatheter Closure of Perimembranous Ventricular Septal Defects: Early and Long-Term Results Gianfranco Butera, Mario Carminati, Massimo Chessa, Luciane Piazza, Angelo Micheletti, Diana Gabriella Negura, Raul Abella, Alessandro Giamberti, Alessandro Frigiola Perimembranous ventricular septal defect (pmVSD) is a common congenital heart disease. Results of pmVSD transcatheter occlusion have been reported but much uncertainty exists, particularly regarding the follow-up. We found, in 104 patients, that pmVSD percutaneous closure is a safe and successful technique. The major concern is the occurrence of complete atrioventricular block; therefore, very careful monitoring of rhythm and atrioventricular conduction is mandatory during follow-up. |
