Summary: | This paper considers the possibility of modifying substandard commercial bitumen to improve its rheological properties by the example of use of a by-product of selective purification of oil distillates (extract) as a plasticizing additive and a polymer industry waste (powdery polyethylene terephthalate). Laboratory studies identified the key parameters of the original bitumen, bitumen with addition of pure extract and with addition of polymer-extract solution. The possibility of utilization of polymer wastes with improvement of the properties of road bitumen and of getting from it high-quality cold asphalt-concrete mix has been established. |
