Summary:While television programming in the USA has traditionally focused on the general, English-speaking market, recent developments in children's television are changing that phenomenon. In response to the population growth of Latinos, new Spanish-language media channels have emerged. The number of Latino-themed children's programmes in English that target not just US-born Latinos but all ethnic groups has increased. The growth of Spanish-language and Latino-themed programmes has introduced new characters and diversified the children's television landscape. Media scholars must assess this new programming in order to determine the role television may have in teaching children of all ethnicities to navigate the world in which they live.
