Summary:Pharmaceuticals containing glycyrrhizic acid that exhibit a pleiotropic effect and reduce the risk of progression of cervical lesions associated with human papillomavirus, virus-associated liver lesions, and other diseases with an inflammatory component are considered. Glycyrrhizic acid obtained from licorice root extract has immunostimulatory, anti-inflammatory, antiproliferative, and pro-apoptotic effects. The mechanisms of action of glycyrrhizic acid at the cellular level that provide the therapeutic efficacy are considered.
