Summary:The cerebrovascular activity of the new synthesized compound nicotinoyl- L -proline in rats with acute ischemia caused by occlusion of the left carotid artery and chronic ischemia of the brain caused by hypokinesia of the animals was revealed. Laser Doppler flowmetry found that intraperitoneal administration of the investigated nicotinoyl- L -proline at a dose of 10 mg/kg stimulated local cerebral blood flow by greater than 40% under both acute brain ischemia and chronic ischemia caused by hypokinesia of the animals during 15 d. Registration of systemic arterial pressure by the noninvasive tail–cuff method demonstrated that the effects of nicotinoyl- L -proline on cerebral blood flow were not accompanied by changes in the systolic and diastolic pressures and the heart rate.
