Summary:Cu-based P/M friction materials were prepared and the effects of Fe and SiO2 friction components on the friction and wear behaviors of the materials were studied. The results show that Fe and SiO2 have different wear mechanisms. Fe can decrease wear loss of friction materials and enhance friction coefficient, while SiO2 can remarkably enhance friction coefficient and wear properties of friction materials under the condition of high rotating rate, and increase wear loss under the condition of low rotating rate. The wear behaviors and mechanisms of Fe and SiO2 in Cu-based friction materials have been discussed.
