Peroxidase Turnover in Ginseng Strains under Standard Conditions and Temperature Stress

Peroxidase (EC 1.11.1.7) and total protein turnover were compared in the cells of closely related ginseng strains ( Panax ginseng, Panax quinquefolius, Panax ginseng LX-5). Peroxidase synthesis accounted for 0.36 % ( P. ginseng), 1.86 % ( P. ginseng LX-5) and 2.16 % ( P. quinquefolius) of total prot...

Summary:Peroxidase (EC 1.11.1.7) and total protein turnover were compared in the cells of closely related ginseng strains ( Panax ginseng, Panax quinquefolius, Panax ginseng LX-5). Peroxidase synthesis accounted for 0.36 % ( P. ginseng), 1.86 % ( P. ginseng LX-5) and 2.16 % ( P. quinquefolius) of total protein. Influence of temperature stress on peroxidase and total protein turnover was studied in P. ginseng LX-5 cells. The increase in peroxidase content under cold and heat stress was observed. At 7 °C this effect resulted mainly from enhancement (36.8 %) of enzyme stability, but at 45 °C synthesis was intensified (66.5 %).
