Magnetic properties of the fullerene-based molecular complexes in strong magnetic field

Investigations of the temperature dependencies of the magnetic susceptibility in a temperature range 4.2 K< T <300 K and the field dependence of the magnetisation M( B) in fields up to B=50 T show that the magnetic properties of the C 60 molecular complexes and pure C 60 cannot be described on...

Summary:Investigations of the temperature dependencies of the magnetic susceptibility in a temperature range 4.2 K< T <300 K and the field dependence of the magnetisation M( B) in fields up to B=50 T show that the magnetic properties of the C 60 molecular complexes and pure C 60 cannot be described on the basis of the standard model, which assumes that the paramagnetic oxygen impurity makes the dominant contribution. We will suggest that the magnetism in these solids originates from the diamagnetic C 60 molecules and possibly, the paramagnetism originates from C 60 − complexes which are characterised by an anomalously low g-factor | g|∼0.14.
