Summary:Sputter-deposited TbFeN amorphous thin films were studied as a function of the nitrogen content. The magnetic properties, especially the compensation temperature which results from the balance between two magnetic sublattices, are very sensitive to nitrogen insertion. For increasing nitrogen concentrations, we found a large decrease in the compensation temperature, due to the changes in the atomic environment of the magnetic atoms.
