Summary:The paper presents the results of a study of the effect of the flow rate and pressure of a plasma-forming gas (nitrogen) on energy losses in the form of radiation in the chamber of a three-phase plasma torch with refractory electrodes. An increase in energy losses due to radiation over the entire spectral region with increasing pressure is shown. The dependences of the current-voltage characteristics of the discharge, the fraction of radiant losses, and the efficiency of the plasma torch on the nitrogen flow rate and pressure in the chamber are given.
