Temperature-induced construction of two novel metal-organic frameworks with Pb-O-Pb inorganic skeletons and fluorescent properties
Two novel metal-organic frameworks with Pb-O-Pb inorganic skeletons, [Pb(cppc)]n (1) and [Pb3(cppc)2(Cl)(NO3)]n (2) (H2cppc = 5-(4-carboxyphenyl)pyridine-2-carboxylic acid), have been successfully synthesized through solvo-thermal method at different temperature and characterized by single-crystal X...

Summary: | Two novel metal-organic frameworks with Pb-O-Pb inorganic skeletons, [Pb(cppc)]n (1) and [Pb3(cppc)2(Cl)(NO3)]n (2) (H2cppc = 5-(4-carboxyphenyl)pyridine-2-carboxylic acid), have been successfully synthesized through solvo-thermal method at different temperature and characterized by single-crystal X ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermal analysis, and powder X-ray diffraction. The result indicated that higher temperature (160 °C) favored the formation of compound 1, lower temperature (120 °C) easily resulted in the formation of compound 2. Compound 1 is a two-dimensional double-layer framework containing one-dimensional -Pb-O-Pb- inorganic chains, however, compound 2 is an infinite three-dimensional pillar-layer framework constructed from inorganic -Pb-O-Pb- layers and cppc2− as pillars simultaneously. Compounds 1 and 2 show blue light emission when excited at 270 nm.
