Diffusion mechanisms in sodium and potassium

A computer calculation of vacancy and interstitial migration of homovalent impurities in relaxed alkali metal lattices using pseudopotential-based pair interactions yields results in good agreement with experiment and suggests that sodium diffuses interstitially in potassium.
