Pairing effects in intermediate valence systems

We have calculated the temperature dependence of the energy gap and the critical temperature for intermediate valence systems described by a f-d band model. Summary:We have calculated the temperature dependence of the energy gap and the critical temperature for intermediate valence systems described by a f-d band model. We consider an attractive interaction between f- and d-conduction electrons mediated by phonon exchange with formation of a hybrid d-f pair. We find that the superconducting state can be stabilized when the ratio between the f- and d-bandwidths is greater than a critical value.
