Summary:In this paper, we describe the design of an active filter-based Chua’s chaotic circuit that has voltage controllability. The circuit is composed of several passive devices (resistors and capacitors), an active filter instead of an inductor, and a variable Chua’s diode based on an operational amplifier and two diodes. The chaotic behavior of the circuit was analyzed using SPICE (simulation program with integrated circuit emphasis). The chaotic dynamics such as the time waveform, frequency spectra, and the attractor plot were examined. Additionally, the system was experimentally implemented using an electronic circuit and measured. The simulated data and measured results obtained through the time series waveforms, frequency spectra, and attractor plots verified that the chaotic dynamics of the proposed circuit could be created and controlled using a variable Chua’s diode.
