Microscopic, many-body approach to inelastic pion-nucleus scattering

We develop a microscopic, Fermi liquid approach to (π, π′;) scattering to low-lying final states. Application to excitation of a neutron particle-hole state in infinite nuclear matter shows that the ratio of π − to π + cross sections is sensitive to Fermi liquid parameters.
