Summary: | We tested four YAG:Ce phosphor powders to use for illumination and communication. The illumination and communication function could be put together and create a multifunctional light source. The Visible Light Communication (VLC) technology is based on this principle. The VLC will be engaged in 5G networks. The tested phosphor powders were mixed with Poly-Di-Methyl-Siloxane (PDMS) and hardened in a parabolic reflector. A blue laser diode was used for excitation of the phosphor powders. The measured illumination characteristics were colour coordinates x and y and Correlated Colour Temperature (CCT). The measured communication characteristics were rise time, fall time and photoluminescence decay time. The experimental results showed that one of the four phosphor powders can be used for illumination and communication purposes. |
