Summary:An experimental investigation was made of the parameters of 60-mm-diameter amplifiers pumped in various enclosures. A study was made of the influence of flashlamps, nature of the enclosure, and neodymium concentration on the gain. The maximum output energies of the amplifiers were calculated for circular and linear polarizations, and these were compared with the experimental values. Estimates were obtained of the parameters of rod amplifiers with apertures right up to 150 mm.
