Summary:Statistical values of the erodibility K-index, plastic (PL), liquid limit (LL) and hygroscopic moisture (Pw) for 29 Greek soils were correlated with a number of physical soil properties. Soil physical properties were also examined for other than linear correlations in order to find the best coefficients of determination. Stepwise linear multiple regression was also used in statistical analysis to eliminate, as much as possible of the remainding variance. Because a certain soil property (exchangeable Mg) affected the examined soil properties to a considerable degree, data were divided into groups according to this soil property, since only in this way could integrated conclusions be drawn. Clay minerology /3- and especially exchangeable Mg (in Mg-affected soils) /3 - was the main factor responsible for the observed K, PL, LL and Pw values in the soils.
