‘Soft’ and ‘rigid’ photomagnetism in YIG:Co films measured by linear dichroism

Polarized light induced ‘soft’ and ‘rigid’ linear dichroism was found in YIG: Co films. The ‘rigid’ photo-induced dichroism seems to be connected with Co2+ in the tetrahedral side. The effect of optical anisotropy memory was observed after heating and recooling of the sample.
