Summary:The present paper deals with the determination of the fundamental frequency of transverse vibration of thin, elastic plates which are fibre-reinforced in two orthogonal directions. Orthotropic plate theory is used and numerical results are presented for clamped and simply supported plates of regular polygonal shape. It is shown that the polynomial coordinate functions used herein yield better accuracy than that obtained by the authors in a recent study in the case of simply supported edges.
