Summary:The characteristics of signals scattered by artificial ionospheric turbulence in its sounding by short powerful pulses are considered. Two types of scattered signals (`plasma' signals (PS) and ‘caviton’ signals (CS)) appear when the heating transmitter is turned on. The characteristics of PS and CS are presented, which depend on parameters of the heating and probing transmitters as well as on the ionospheric conditions. The periodic generation of cavitons was recorded.
