Summary:Functionally graded materials are a special class of heterogeneous materials in which the composition is gradually varied over the component volume. Usually, functionally graded are made up of metal and ceramics. In the present work an attempt has made to fabricate the metal-metal FGM disk and study the microstructure of the FGM disc. To fabricate the FGM disc SS316 and IN625 materials have been considered and the disc is fabricated using LENS 750 system. The micro-structural study helps in understanding the distribution of each phase and formation of interface region. The uniformity of interface region is determined by radiographic testing. Further work can be carried out by correlating the microstructure with the strength and performance of FGM metal-metal material.
