Summary:Present study investigates machinability of K-90 alumina ceramic for Fluidized-Bed Abrasive Jet Machining (FB-AJM) in presence of Silicon Carbide (SiC) abrasives. Four input process factors such as pressure, standoff distance, abrasive temperature, and abrasive mesh size are considered associated with L16 orthogonal array design of experiment. Effects of AJM parameters on output responses viz. Material Removal Rate (MRR), Overcut (OC), and circularity error (deviation) are studied. In addition, Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) integrated with Taguchi method is applied to determine the most appropriate setting of AJM parameters in purview of maximum MRR, minimal OC, and minimal circularity error.
