Summary:Recently biosynthesis of nanoparticles using microorganism has gained the attention due to its green and economical approach. In the present communication a significant attempt has been made to synthesis silver nanoparticles mediated by Rhizoctonia solani (R. solani) fungi. The synthesized nanoparticles were well characterised by UV–visible spectrometry, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Fourier transform Infrared spectrometry (FTIR). The XRD data exhibit that crystallite sizes are around 5–10 nm, while TEM revealed particle size 10-20 nm. Furthermore, AgNPs were found as an effective antibacterial agent against S. aureus.
